Agree. Although, the real question would be how much could Hill provide you? He 44 years old and has not played a game this season. You're correct about him being good for the Red Sox, but they cannot bet on this guy. Not everyone can be Justin Verlander even if they're a great player themselves.

that's where sports becomes a crap shoot. different scenerio but i'm going to briefly compare to the Mets last year. they went all in on two 40 year old pitchers and look where that got them? of course Hill would not be getting a gaudy paycheck like Scherzer or Verlander but yes the question i think comes down to durability at his age and that he is not in midseason form being he hasnt pitched this year. on the flip side he could be in the best shape of his life and ready to throw fire. thats what makes that what ifs fun and thats why these debates are fun!

Good piece and all great points! the Red Sox have most definately been one of the biggest surprises of the season. they're no quit attitude will go a long way. hence when they came back in the 8th inning on Friday against the Yankees and also when they were down to their last strike on Friday July 5th. In my opinion a good pickup for the Sox would be someone that could come off his couch. Rich Hill. I know he is up there in age but did well for the Red Sox prior and veterans such as him who have performed under the bright lights in October are the type of guys they would want to make a run. A left handed starter, an innings eater, and a veteran presence will go a long way for the Sox hopes on making a run. And as we have seen in recent years the lower seeds who gets hot at the right time have had the most success in October. I'd see a Rich Hill Boston reunion a win-win for the Sox.
