INTRO:
Frick, frick, frick, frick, frick.
I’ve always talked about this dynasty not being over. I’ve said many times that they can keep it alive as long as Steph Curry continues producing.
But, this parting with Klay Thompson, well, I just feel like now is the official end of the dynasty.
If you don’t know already, I’m a huge Warriors fan. I can never talk anything bad about this team, regardless of how bad the team is.
Alright, let’s get into my emotional state.
Klay Thompson
Dude. Do you know how many people you just impacted with your decision? It includes your own dad.
This man was regarded as one of the splash brothers alongside Curry. He’s a sharpshooter. He won 4 championships with the franchise.
He thinks that all we do is talk about Curry and how great he is (He’s great all right.), but that’s not true. He thinks that we don’t honor him and that we think he wasn’t a cause for the championships the Warriors have. That’s not true either!
Yet, he wants to win more championships than Curry. He wants to prove that he’s better than Curry. That’s why he chose the Mavs than the Lakers, even though he would’ve gotten more money in Los Angeles. Klay wanted to win 1 more championship with a team that’s ready win one. Well, guess what Klay. You can’t be better than Curry after making this switch.
Another reason why was because… of… tax?
This guy is a fricking multi-millionaire. Why does he care about tax? He can buy anything he wants with the money he has!
It’s stupid. It’s so stupid. No one cares about your heartfelt goodbye (or at least I don’t). Let’s look at what he said.
"Oh Bay Area, there are not enough words and images to convey how I really feel about y'all. From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for the best times of my life. It was such an honor to put that Dubs jersey on from day 1. I really just wanted to be the best I could be and help bring as many championships as possible to the region. The best part was not the rings though, it was the friendships I made that will last a lifetime. Don’t be sad it’s over, be happy it happened.
-Klay Thompson
First off, if you felt good about the Bay Area, you stay there. You don’t go to Texas (sorry Texans). If you’re honored putting on that Dubs jersey, you would stay with the Dubs too. No reason to leave if you felt honored. If you want to bring championships to the region, than it doesn’t matter what happens, you don’t betray the team. If the best part wasn’t the rings, than why the hell do you want to leave all your friends?
The last line. That last line.
Despicable.
Good things always come to an end. Y’all have definitely heard that at least once in your life. But, we humans… We have a hard time processing this stuff… Never do we ever want things to come to an end, especially if that thing is not retiring, but is relocating.
Although, this feels like Tom Brady and what he did. He was with the Pats for like, what, 20 years? He left after his contract ended and played with the Buccaneers. Yeah. He disappointed many fans. They hate him for it. It sucked.
But, at least… At least he had a reason to leave. He wanted a multi-year contract and a bit more money. The Pats said no. He got the better offer from the Bucs, he left. He’s a superstar player after all…
Thompson? Hell yeah he’s a superstar player, but is he as big as Brady?
You tell me.
The point is, you gotta have a good reason to leave. Thompson got less than the Warriors tried to give him last season. He accepted it. He thought he was a big shot who would get 100 million dollars for 4 years.
He isn’t.
Fine, don’t sign with the Mavericks. The fact that his own dad is disappointed in his decision…
Thompson is selfish. As simple as that.
I wouldn’t care if he signed with the Lakers, because, yeah, I guess he wants to play for his dad’s favorite team… But going out to the Mavericks???
Or maybe I’m just extremely sad that Klay left Dub Nation.
He was a game-changer for the Bay Area, and without him, we couldn’t have accomplished those 4 titles. Thank you, Klay Thompson.
