Intro:
Tailgating at NFL games is a tradition that spans decades. It’s a one-stop shop for everything you would want at a football game.
Now in some places, it’s pretty affordable. In others, you regret the experience altogether, not because of the experience, but because of the cost.
We’re going to talk about all that and more in this one, but first…

Tailgating
Take a look at the cost of the tailgating experience.
Looking at the whole list, the average cost would be $205.17.
The numbers are so skewed for each team, that you can’t even say the costs depend on the team. One of the biggest examples of that? The Kansas City Chiefs. They’ve won back-to-back championships, but even then, their tailgating experience has the 5th lowest cost. Then, you look at the Eagles, who haven’t won a Super Bowl in the Jalen Hurts era, with their tailgating costs going up to about $238.
Now, the California teams leading the way is no surprise. The 49ers play in Santa Clara, the center of Silicon Valley (with companies like Intel and Nvidia housed there). For the Rams and Chargers, that’s Los Angeles. Home to LeBron James, Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, and Hollywood. So, once again, no surprise there.
How is San Francisco leading? Car parking and that’s pretty much the best way for the teams to make tailgating money. Even if the 49ers have a good experience in Levi’s Stadium, outside of it, parking is $32 more costly than the second-place team. For LA, Dallas, and Philly (we’ll talk more about them in a bit) it follows the same theme.
With that, let’s look at the cost of parking.
A $132 for PARKING! Are you kidding me? $3 for PARKING? That’s heaven! (THE AVERAGE IS ABOUT $57.)
Now to a bit of analysis.
According to Oddspedia, the Eagles tailgating experience is one of the best in the business. If the Eagles were to lower their parking costs a bit and the food and drink bill, then this could be the best. If you aren’t an Eagles fan though, this could be a doomsday scenario for you as the Eagles, who are already known for one heck of a fanbase, are pretty raucous as well in the tailgating grounds.
Why is Cardinals parking so cheap? Why is their tailgating experience so cheap? Well, it’s not only about the team but about the weather. Since it’s torrid in Glendale, Arizona, spending the mornings/afternoons before the game out in the sun isn’t a very good idea, regardless of how ice-cold the beers are. Now to the team, they are in the midst of a rebuild, so I’m not sure why even diehard fans would sacrifice their lives to watch their team lose another game.
