To finish the summit well, Andrew Steele, Jacob Sutton, and I each wrote a paragraph on a specific topic.
What is your favorite team in your favorite sport and why?
Let’s begin.
:
My favorite team, by both obligation and emotion, has to be the Houston Rockets. H-Town has a bit of everything; great food, great people, and great sports teams. The Rockets, after moving from San Diego in 1971, the city has embraced the Space City squad, no doubt helped by the efforts of Hakeem “The Dream” Olajuwon. For me, being a Rockets fan is more than just cheering for the team. It’s about backing Houston as a city and as a culture that doesn’t care about race.
With H-Town’s team being on the come up this year with a mix of young and veteran talent, maybe they can reach something close to to the heights of the 1994 and 1995 seasons. Regardless, the Rockets have my vote!

My favorite sports are baseball and hockey, and I grew up a Mets fan. However, since I cover the team, we'll focus on hockey. I fell in love with the New York Rangers after seeing them on ESPN as a kid. Growing up in England, I wasn't exactly exposed to the NHL, or American sports in general, but as soon as I saw the Blueshirts and those beautiful, iconic Original Six uniforms, I was hooked. I've been lucky enough to watch a ton of Ranger games at Madison Square Garden, and there is nothing quite like it. Not even close. I've also been beyond fortunate to watch the likes of Henrik Lundqvist and Artemi Panarin live, and I'm hoping to be able to attend a Stanley Cup parade in the not too distant future.
:
I love every sport (that’s why I run a newsletter that covers every sport), but my absolute favorite sport is baseball. 2017 was the first year I started watching baseball. Up until that point, it was only basketball. When I turned on the World Series that year (Astros vs Dodgers) and saw the Dodgers lose, I wasn’t a fan of any team (maybe the Red Sox a little bit), but I was definitely heartbroken to see the team lose. That was when I slowly started watching Dodgers games/becoming a fan. It wasn’t until 2019, when the scandal was revealed that I became a true Dodgers fan. At that time, they also brought over Mookie Betts, my favorite player on the Red Sox. It was perfect perfect.
Just yesterday, I was able to watch my favorite team play the Oakland Athletics. I couldn’t watch my favorite player, Mookie Betts (injury), but Shohei Ohtani played an incredible game.
Conclusion:
Thank you to
for chatting with me about the Red Sox, to talk about the next generation of tennis, and to myself? for hosting a show on the trade deadline. I’ll see y’all next time!
