The Olympics have been so fun and we’ve seen the most unexpected stars win a medal. From a 14-year-old winning an Olympic event to a 38-year-old getting past the first round, the Olympics are super unpredictable.
I’m introducing a bit of a new format. I will be predicting the top scorer/winner for the best match/event for the next day.
Let’s get into it, people!
Archery:
RECAP:
For the women’s team archery games, medals were handed out today with Mexico claiming bronze, China claiming silver, and Korea claiming Gold!
Artistic Gymnastics:

Badminton:
RECAP:
The best match of the day was obviously this one.
I mean, 24-22 first set deuce, 17-21 next set, and while the 3rd set kind of disappointed anyone who watched this game saw one heck of a match.
This one below was another amazing match. While Ygor Coelho wasn’t able to win a set, the fight he put up still made this an amazing battle and the best singles match of the day.
PREDICTION:
For the China and Malaysia double match featuring these squads.
CHINA: Wei Keng Liang, Chang Wang
Malaysia: Aaron Chia, Wooi Yik Soh.
I have China winning 2-0
Basketball
Recap:
The United States Men’s Squad absolutely clobbered Serbia in basketball winning 110-84. In fact, the only reason Serbia stayed afloat was because of Jokic. He had 20 points.
The best game in basketball was Spain vs China (Women’s), which was a highly contested battle. In the end, Spain prevailed 90-89. For Spain, Megan Gustafson was the leading scorer. For China, Yueru Li was the leading scorer with 31 points.
Prediction:
Tomorrow, in the battle of the same colors but flipped vertically between Germany and Belgium, I have Germany winning.
Beach Volleyball:
Recap:
All of the games today were interesting, but if I had to pick two that were the most interesting, it would be Netherlands vs Italy.
Boxing:
Recap:
Lots of great boxing games that were actually close. I can’t exactly offer any expertise here, but here are the scores if you would like to go look at it.
Prediction:
In the game between Kazakhstan and Spain (the final game of Boxing for the Olympic Day), I have Kazakhstan winning.
Canoe Slalom:
Recap:
The Aussies took home another medal. This time in the Women’s Kayak Final. Jessica Fox took first. Klaudia Zwolinska of Poland took 2nd. Kimberley Woods of Great Britain took 3rd.
Cycling Mountain Bike:
Recap:
For the women’s cross-country, Pauline Ferrand Prevot of France took first. Haley Batten of the United States took 2nd. Jenny Rissveds took 3rd.
Prediction for Men’s bracket:
I think that the USA’s Riley Amos will take the gold medal.
Equestrian
Recap:
Here are the Top 5.
Prediction:
I think that Michael Jung will take gold on Monday.
Fencing:
Recap:
In the women’s foil individual, Eleanor Harvey of Canada took bronze. Lauren Scruggs of the US took silver. Lee Kiefer of the US took gold. In the Men’s Epee, Mohamed Elsayed of Egypt took bronze. Yannick Borel of France took silver. Kano Koki of Japan took gold.
Football:
What a showdown we saw between Australia and Zambia. It was a 6-5 final (yes in football) and if Zambia didn’t commit an own goal, this might’ve just been a tie game.
NOTE: CANADA IS SUSPENDED FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE OLYMPIC GAMES BECAUSE OF A SPYING SCANDAL. A SEPARATE POST WILL COME OUT TO TALK ABOUT THAT.
Handball:
Recap:
The best game today was Brazil vs Hungary. The Brazilians had this game but fell apart in the second half which led to Hungary winning 25-24
Prediction:
Sweden vs Spain is shaping up to be a great game. I have Sweden winning by 3 points.
Hockey:
Lots of close games in hockey, so I couldn’t exactly choose one game. I would say Great Britain vs South Africa was a great game only because it ended in a tie.
Judo
For the men’s -66 KG contest, Gusman Kyrgyzbayev of Kazakhstan took the bronze medal. Denis Vieru of Moldova also took a bronze medal. Hifumi Abe took the gold medal while Willian Lima of Brazil took the silver.
For the women’s -52KG contest, Larissa Pimenta of Brazil and Amandine Buchard of France each took bronze. Diyora Keldiyorova of Uzbekistan took gold while Distria Krasniqi of Kosovo took silver.
Rugby Sevens
Recap:
It was an absolute demolition in the women’s rugby bracket. France had the biggest win margin with a 49-0 win over Japan. Just a crazy day.
Prediction:
In Canada vs China tomorrow (both of these teams got absolutely demolished), I have Canada demolishing China 35-5.
Shooting Results
Men’s:
Women’s:
Skateboarding:
For the first time ever, a 14-year-old has won an event. Coco Yoshizawa of Japan won the women’s street final. She’s the youngest to do so. No one on the leaderboard is 18+ years old.
Swimming Results:
Table Tennis:
Quite a few games went to 4-3 today. If you haven’t been watching table tennis at the Olympics yet, I highly suggest doing so.
Tennis:
RAFA RAFA RAFA
Rafael Nadal wins his first game and moves on to face Djokovic in the 2nd round.
NOTE: A SEPARATE ARTICLE ABOUT NADAL VS DJOKOVIC WILL BE COMING SOON.
Water Polo
The most interesting game of the day was Serbia vs Japan which was a narrow 16-15 victory for them.
Thanks for reading this one and I’ll see you later.
