Let us be the first ones (out of your family) to wish you a happy new year! We’re going to get our major sports edition picks in today. You will enjoy this 12 A.M edition!!! Here are some major changes happening in the new year. A policy/noticeboard will be sent out as soon as possible.
Sports Square is going to go through some changes in 2024. Editions will as always come on set days of the week, but those days of the week will be different in the coming year. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday will be the days. This change will go into effect at least by mid-January. We also might frequently have Thursday newsletters. These days are subject to change as the year goes on, so make sure you read all the way until the end to know what happens.
We might also be introducing another writer in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for that. We have a poll below this about how you would want the Sports Newsletter to be organized. Even if you don’t read the newsletter much, please answer it so we can make sure that you will enjoy it.
The Predictions
NFL
Super Bowl Champ: Ravens
Super Bowl Runner-Up: Lions
No clue why I picked the Lions, but I just feel like they have the best shot at this. The 49ers are a great team, not going to say anything about that, but the Lions are the underdog pick here, and I’m going for it. I believe in Dan Campbell’s squad and the connection between the QB and WR. The defense is going to stop Brock Purdy at least once and the Lions will just keep scoring after that!
NBA
NBA Finals Winner: 76ers
NBA Finals Runner-Up: Clippers
Star-studded team versus a great team. Who wins?
MLB
World Series Winner: Dodgers
World Series Runner-Up: Yankees
Juan Soto and Aaron Judge vs Shohei Ohtani and Mookie Betts.
Gerrit Cole vs Yoshinobu Yamamoto.
Who wins these matchups? That’s what this world series will be about. It’s going to be awesome. I wanted to add one team though in this mix and that is the Royals. They got some good pitching this offseason so far, and I think they’ll finally be able to get out of the bottom-rank tier category. I don’t know why, but I’ve said that they’ll lose to the Yankees in the ALCS.
MLS
MLS Cup Winner: Inter Miami CF
MLS Cup Runner-Up: LAFC
Y’all. It’s Lionel Messi.
NHL
Stanley Cup Winner: Las Vegas Golden Knights
Stanley Cup Runner-up: New York Rangers
The Golden Knights are already champions, and in the way the season is going right now for them, they’ll probably win again.
CFB Championship
Today, the semis of the CFP will be going on. I’m going to predict that, and then our national champion of the year. Ready?
Alabama vs Michigan 5:00 P.M. EST
Michigan
Jim Harbaugh is coming back and Michigan has been very dominant this year even without their head coach for the final four games of the season. This is going to be an exciting matchup and Michigan will pull it off in the final minutes of the 4th quarter.
Texas vs Washington 8:45 P.M EST
Huskies for the win.
Washington has a very good defense and attacks must be made. I don’t have much of a take on this.

Australian Open
Women’s Winner: Elena Rybakina
Women’s Runner-Up: Iga Swiatek
Men’s Winner: Carlos Alcaraz
Men’s Runner-Up: Rafael Nadal (biased)
My favorite tennis player is Rafael Nadal, and I have a little bias towards him. Especially since he’s returning from injury and I want him to do well.
For the rest of the Grand Slam Tournaments, for Men’s tennis, I have Novak Djokovic winning. I personally hate him (because he wins too much and for some other reasons), but he’s a good tennis player and will win. This is only if he doesn’t get injured.
Olympics
Of course, we currently do not know the list of the competitors in this battle, but I assure you we’ll be talking a bit about it in future editions as we near summer.
2024 T20 Cricket World Cup
Winner: Australia
Runner-Up: West Indies
Conclusion
There are of course many other sports in this world. We can’t cover all of them in one edition, but as 366 days go on this year, we’ll cover many of them. Thank you so much for reading Sports Square this new year!
