If this one guy didn't exist, about 40% of the MLB wouldn't be in the MLB. No Vladdy (not American), no Tatis (not American), no Mookie (African American), no Hank Aaron (African American), no Barry Bonds (African American), the list goes on and on.
That one guy? He’s pretty special. His name is Jackie Robinson. He was the first African American to play in Major League Baseball, breaking the color line.
Every year, on April 15th, every single player wears the number 42 in honor of Jackie Robinson making his debut with the Brooklyn Dodgers. By the way, his number was the first ever to be retired in the MLB. This is an act that never happened in any sport.
Now to influence. Just to note, there is no brand talk in this chapter.
This guy was the Martin Luther King Jr. of this time.
No one believes that people of other colors could make the MLB……..
